How to Build Snowboard Obstacles
Snowboarding is an adventure with lots of hidden obstacles just waiting to be discovered. Most of them are courtesy of nature, but sometimes boarders want to build their own obstacles to not only make the course more challenging but to practice skills needed to avoid them such as ollies.

1
Look to nature to see what obstacles are already there and choose your path around them. Pillow lines, or rocks covered with snow, are good choices as are road gaps, logs, cliffs and trees.
-
2
Try to mimic obstacles that occur naturally by compiling dirt and covering it with a layer of snow to build an obstacle. Move logs and other objects into the snowboard path.

3
Plan and build the snowboard path around obstacles if possible. If the choice exists between a clear path and one with trees and rocks, choose the harder one, but be careful to allow enough space to maneuver through them.
-
4
Pile up snow to build some jumps. Several small jumps can add a lot of excitement to the course.
-
5
Consider building rails, ramps or boxes to add to the course. Although these are more difficult to build and take some time, they mix nicely with natural obstacles. Make sure to leave landing room after each obstacle and ensure there is enough of a hill to get adequate speed to maneuver over them.
