You're sitting at a backgammon table with your opponent. The play is as realistic as it gets for an online gaming experience. The game is the old favorite backgammon, but the play is futuristic. Try Hardwood Backgammon for free and see for yourself.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download your version of Hardwood Backgammon free from Silver Creek. The download takes a few minutes but after that, the game opens right up for subsequent play.

  2. Step 2

Open Hardwood Backgammon and see the welcome screen followed by an "Options" screen. Choose options to customize your playing pieces, background, avatar and audio.

  3. Step 3

Choose to play Hardwood Backgammon against the computer by choosing "single player game" from the "Options" menu. The following screen allows you to either start the game, learn the rules or customize your playing screen.

  4. Step 4

Select rules if you're new to backgammon or if you just need a refresher. Play is the same as in any backgammon game. The object of the game is to remove all your pieces before your opponent removes his pieces.

  5. Step 5

Begin play by pressing "Play." The board is automatically set up. Click on the board to roll the dice. You then make your moves by dragging and dropping your pieces. You can also just click the piece you want to move and the computer can move it for you.

  6. Step 6

Click on the row of the piece you want to move, and the computer shows you where the piece is moved to by highlighting the row. Use this help if you're unsure of any move.

  7. Step 7

Keep at least two pieces in a row, or you can leave yourself vulnerable. Then that piece must start over from the beginning. Do this to your opponent when he's vulnerable.

  8. Step 8

End play when one player removes all her pieces. Play again or challenge your friends by playing online.
