How to Get Free Business Advice
When starting a business, money is usually limited. Free advice is valuable, and the more free resources a potential owner has, the more of the money he can funnel into the business. There are several places that offer help; you just have to know where to look.

1
Contact the SBA (Small Business Administration). They are the premiere source for small businesses and free resources.
-
2
Ask SCORE for advice when it comes to starting your business. SCORE is an acronym for "Service Corps Of Retired Executives". SCORE is part of the Small Business Administration (SBA) and has one of the best information and references for free material.

3
Join forums. Forums are a good place where people exchange ideas and give advice. The good thing about forums is that participants post about what has worked and what hasn't. You can learn from their mistakes and success.
-
4
Ask other small business owners if they know of free resources. It's probably best to ask an owner who will not be your competitor. Potential competitors will more than likely be reluctant to share information with you.
-
5
Use library resources. Your local library is a plethora of resources. You can check out books, business magazines, take away pamphlets, look up names, addresses and phone numbers of organizations that could be helpful.

6
Get free business legal advice. When starting a business, you'll need legal advice. The type of business set-up (sole proprietor, S corporation, C corporation, partnership) will determine the type of legal advice you'll need. Free Advice offers legal advice, at no cost, for those wanting to start businesses. See our Resources Section below for more information.
