How to Play Crystal Quest

Crystal Quest was a game Macintosh made popular more than two decades ago. Thanks to Xbox Live Arcade, there is now an updated version of Crystal Quest that you can play on the Xbox 360. The controls are simple to learn but the game is challenging enough to keep you playing for hours.

Instructions

1. Move your ball. You control the sphere that starts in the middle of the screen. You must navigate around the screen without running into obstacles or enemies while collecting crystals. Use the left analog stick to move and be careful because the ball can get out of your control easily.

2. Collect crystals. There are several crystals scattered around each level, and you must collect them all in order to move on to the next level. Watch out for the spiked stars that look like crystals. They stay still like crystals but if you touch one you may die.

3. Shoot the enemies. You can shoot by tilting the right analog stick in the direction you want to shoot. Kill enemies that spawn from the portals at either side of the screen. You do not have to kill all of the enemies to move on, but it will help you survive the level, especially in the later levels.

4. Avoid the objects. There are several hazardous objects scattered on some of the levels and many of the enemies will try to run into you or shoot you. Avoid them at all costs and collect the crystals. Don't forget that you have bombs via the right bumper that you can use to eliminate threats.

5. Escape as fast as you can. Gather all of the crystals and head out the exit at the bottom of the screen. You will have less of a chance to die the faster you complete each level and you get a bonus for finishing quickly.

Tips & Warnings

• You can play the classic Crystal Quest that was originally released by Macintosh in 1987 by choosing the "Classic Mode" option.
