How to Play Catan

Catan is a fun filled game of building a civilization on the island of Catan. You must grow your civilization by producing and trading resources, and by establishing settlements to develop unique maps and exciting challenges on the island of Catan.

Instructions

1. Purchase and play Catan on XBox 360.

2. Review the MSN tutorial to learn how to play the game, its history and objectives. Become a premier player and download a free single layer trial.

3. Roll the dice and watch to see if the number on the dice matches the number in a hexagon on the island game board. Once you land on each hexagon, reference the resource that is available from that hexagon. Gather each kind of resource card when you land on each hexagon that has one of your buildings on it.

4. Use resource cards to purchase resources such as wool, lumber, brick, grain or ore. Also use cards to build things. Review the build menu to determine how many and which resource cards you need to build things. Construct buildings, settlements, and cities.

5. Trade resource cards to get the cards that you need to purchase particular resources. Use the trade window to trade resource cards.

6. Use or remove the robber during play. Remove the robber by rolling a seven or by playing a soldier development card. Also use the robber to make all players discard half of their resources, move the robber or steal one resource from one player with a city or settlement which is next to the robber.

7. Strive for the goal to earn 10 victory points. Earn points by building roads, settlements and cities. Also earn points by purchasing development cards. Obtain two special victory point sources such as the longest road or the largest army.
