How to Scrapbook with Old Greeting Cards

Greeting cards are sent for various reasons, such as birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, Easter and graduations. Most people keep the cards on display for a few days, then deposit the card in the trash bin. Scrapbookers use greeting cards to kick start their creativity.       Preserve the sentiment of the greeting card by mounting the entire card on the album page. A 12 inch x 12 inch album page can hold three or four cards with space left over for journaling about the occasion.

      Cut the design from the front of the card. To make the design more appealing, frame it with card stock or cut the design out with patterned scissor blades. Cut the sentiment and signature out of the inside of the card and mount both on a scrapbook page. If there are related items that arrived with the card, mount the items on the same page and journal about them.

      Group greeting card photos into themes. Choose a group and cut out the designs. Arrange the pictures as a collage border along the top, bottom or side of the scrapbook page.

      Divide the greeting cards into groups according to cover design. Carefully cut out designs and place them in labeled envelopes for use on future scrapbook pages. Sometimes it's possible to get several designs cut from one greeting card. Repeat the process for the sentiments inside the cards.
