Step 1
Take out all removable parts inside the oven including racks, shelves and the broiler, and clean them thoroughly with a chemical cleanser, scrubbing off any stubborn dirt with steel wool.
-
Step 2
Spray the inside walls and door of the oven with a chemical cleanser and let the solution penetrate for several minutes. Then wipe it off to remove surface dirt. Carefully inspect hard-to-reach places, like corners and the area beneath the burners, to ensure that you remove all dirt.
-
Step 3
Reassemble the oven and leave it unused for 24 hours.
-
Step 4
Turn the oven onto the highest heat possible for 1 hour to make it kosher. There should be no food in the oven at this point.
-
Step 5
Cook dairy and meat products separately in your newly kosher oven. If possible, use a separate oven for dairy and meat. A more lenient rule is to allow the oven to cool completely and to clean it thoroughly between dairy and meat cooking.
