Floss threaders, specifically designed to help people with bridges, braces and other dental work, floss their teeth. The threader consists of a long piece of plastic with a loop at one end. The user threads the floss through this end. This allows you to slip floss through the tiny spaces between your teeth and the bridge. A floss threader can be tricky to use at first. Follow these steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Slip the straight end of the floss threader under the gum line by the bridge. Grasp the floss and pull the pointy end of the floss through the threader.

  2. Step 2

Hold the floss with both hands. Move it underneath your bridge, flossing as you would with a normal piece of floss. Be extra careful when you use floss around new implants or bridgework and braces. Pull the floss out the other side when you finish cleaning your teeth.

  3. Step 3

Floss thoroughly around all bridgework and orthodontic appliances. Work it around and under each tooth and section of bridgework.

  4. Step 4

Clean up and down each tooth or implant five times to ensure maximum effectiveness. Be certain to use a fresh section of floss each time.

  5. Step 5

Buy Superfloss, a variation on the floss threader, at a drugstore if you prefer. It has a thick, stiff end to help pull the rest of the floss through. Slide it between teeth and under bridgework like you would use normal floss.
