How to Hide Money

The best way to protect your money is to put it in a bank, but sometimes you want to have that quick stash for emergency. You may want to keep money that is yours for those times when you need to be kind to yourself. The last thing you want is for someone breaking into your home and stealing it from you. You need good places to hide your money. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Hide money in a child's toy. A teddy bear (or any stuffed animal) would be a good place. Once you've placed money or valuables among the shredded foam that's used to stuff the toy, stitch the opened place closed. Make sure the hole is not in an obvious place so the stitches don't show. Burglars don't usually think children have valuables, so they won't waste a lot of time there. Also, children's rooms often times are unorganized, and it would be difficult for the thief to go through them.

Hide money in an in-home safe, but make sure it is professionally installed. K-mart or Wal-mart safes can be easily removed from the house, stashed in the car, and later hacked open.

    • 3

Hide money in replicas of everyday items with false bottoms, such as detergent boxes, soup cans and cereal boxes. However, make sure these items are in places where they belong. A cereal box in the bedroom, neatly on a shelf, is a giveaway to the burglar.

Hide money in a broken television or broken computer monitor. Make sure that it looks old as well. If it's in good condition, the burglar may take your TV or monitor, thinking they could get money for it. If that happens, they would get your money anyway.

Tips & Warnings

  • The goal for a burglar is to get in and out as quickly as possible. Leave some money in the obvious hiding places-drawers, socks, shoe boxes, and so forth, so they won't keep looking for cash and find those places where you have the real cash.
