If you have a great fashion sense and a flair for trends and what looks good, a career as a wardrobe consultant may be perfect for you. This can be a very lucrative, fast-paced and exciting way to make a living. You must have talent and an entrepreneurial spirit. Read on to learn more.

    Have the right skills. You must be very trendy, fashionable and know what look good on who and why it does. You must have great marketing and sales skills, be very organized and willing to take risks.     Study fashion or costume design. This can help you learn about styles, line, texture, body types, color concepts, fashion history and much more. You need a lot of knowledge to be successful in this career.

    Maintain a good relationship with clients. Be open, receptive and willing to listen. Be intuitive about a client's needs, personal taste and what makes them feel great.

    Get a lot of contacts in the business. You may potentially be working with celebrities, agents, photographers, models, personal shoppers, politicians and many more. The more people you know and make a good impression on, the more business that will come your way.

    Have a very flexible work attitude. Be willing to work long and odd hours. Be on call, since many will call in crisis mode at last minute. Be willing to do many things, and go many places. A reputation for being easy to work with is imperative for success.

    Find clients primarily through advertising. Do this online at places like the website Craigslist. Market directly to potential clients by sending a postcard-style portfolio sample. Be bold and walk in upscale boutiques to demonstrate your services.

    Build a website once your have been established as a wardrobe consultant. A website can easily show off your portfolio and get your information out widely.
