Instructions

    • 1

Get the group of participating kids together.

    • 2

Ask them to change into dark-colored clothing and remove their jewelry.

    • 3

Find two flashlights while all the participants are changing and getting ready for the game.

    • 4

Introduce everyone to the play area. Establish boundaries. Tell each child that the game may only be played within a designated area. Point out a "base."

    • 5

Pick two kids to be "hunters" for the game. Make sure that they know that they are both hunters. Give each one flashlight.

    • 6

Instruct the hunters to stand by the base. Tell the entire group that when the lights go out, the hunters will count to 60 at a medium pace and then turn. When hunters stop counting, they will call out names and then flash the light on someone. If they have called out the correct name, the called out person will have to return to the base until they are rescued.

    • 7

Turn off the lights. Tell the hunters to begin the counting to start the game.

    • 8

Have called-out kids return to the base. Allow other game players to sneak to the base and tag the base to release the first person who had returned to the base. Let the released person and the rescuer have 30 seconds to hide again.

    • 9

Allow kids to inform the hunter if they have not been called or had a light shone on them. The hunters should allow them 30 seconds to hide, then the hunters should attempt to find them.

    • 10

Call the end of the game when everyone has been caught.
