A Smart Tag is a button that pops up when PowerPoint 2007 does something that you may wish to undo. This feature has a context-sensitive menu and is carried over from PowerPoint 2003. There are not as many Smart Tags in PowerPoint 2007 as there are in Excel and Word. The following steps explain how to use PowerPoint 2007 Smart Tags.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Find an AutoCorrect Option Smart Tag when PowerPoint changes the spelling of a word. This Smart Tag does not pop up automatically when the correction is made.
Step2
Move cursor over the text that PowerPoint 2007 changed. This will cause a thick blue underline to be displayed under the first character of the underlined text.
Step3
Position the cursor over the blue underline to cause the Smart Tag to be displayed.
Step4
Click the down arrow on the right side of the Smart Tag to open the context menu. The specific menu options will depend on the action, which caused the Smart Tag to be displayed.
Step5
Look for the Paste Option Smart Tag below anything you paste into a slide. PowerPoint does not automatically make any changes to the pasted object.
Step6
Expect the AutoFit Option when you type more text in a placeholder than it will hold. PowerPoint will decrease the font size automatically until it fits.
Step7
Use the AutoLayout Option when inserting a chart or picture. PowerPoint will automatically change the layout to accommodate the new object if needed.
