How to Create a CD Label in Photoshop Elements

Photoshop Elements allows users to design and create their own CD labels in less than an hour. With the right instructions and a little creativity you can have distinctive CD labels for your entire collection.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a CD label template from the Internet. One place to find a template compatible with Photoshop Elements is the World Label website (see Resources below).

    • 2

Open Photoshop Elements. Click "Open" under the File menu. Locate the downloaded template in the window that appears. Highlight the template. Click on the "Open" tab. This activates the template and opens it in your window.

    • 3

Click "OK" in the window that pops up. The window contains the template's basic information.

    • 4

Design your CD label with text, photos, background colors and images. To input text, click on "Insert" and choose "Text Block." To place a photo or graphic on the CD cover, select "Picture" from the Insert menu.

    • 5

Save your work by clicking the "Save" option under the File menu.

    • 6

Test your design out on regular paper. Print the label on regular paper to make sure it lines up correctly with the CD label paper. Check your design by placing the practice paper over the label paper. Hold them up to the light to see if they line up.

Print your label onto CD label paper. This paper has an adhesive back so it is easily secured onto a CD. Choose "Print" from the drop-down menu under the File tab on the tool bar at the top of your screen.
