Step1
Talk to your medical doctor about 3D/4D ultrasounds. In some pregnancies, a medical reason may exist which would necessitate a more detailed 3D or 4D ultrasound. If your pregnancy is progressing normally and no medical reason exists, see what your personal doctor thinks about your having a 3D or 4D ultrasound. Some doctors may encourage the procedure while others will be against ultrasounds if there's no medical necessity.

Consider the cost of a 3D or 4D ultrasound. Since most 3D or 4D ultrasounds are not for medical reasons, your medical insurance usually won't cover the procedure. If a 3D or 4D ultrasound isn't covered by your insurance, be prepared to pay up to several hundred dollars.
