How to Enhance Photo Display With InDesign

Nothing rattles a desktop publishing designer's nerves like placing an edited photo on the page and discovering it looks nothing like it did in the photo editor. Adobe has a few ways to enhance photo display with InDesign. Since InDesign is a layout program, it displays photos in low resolution. Changing the view will not change the print quality, only what you see on your page within InDesign.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the photo you want to enhance photo display with InDesign.

    • 2

Choose "Object" or "View" if you have a newer version of InDesign.

    • 3

Select "Display Performance" from the drop down menu. You will have three options depending on your version of InDesign.

    • 4

Choose "High Quality," as this will give you the highest resolution for viewing your photo. It may take a bit longer to load when you enhance the photo display because of the resolution quality.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can enhance the photo display of all your images with InDesign by selecting "Allow Object-Level Display Settings" after Step 3.

  • You can also choose two other types of display. The Typical display provides the quickest performance and can be used to see where your photos will appear on the document. The Fast option will display a faster image.

  • In addition to enhancing photo display, these options can also be used on vector graphics.
