You can make pom-pom spiders in any color and use them as cute decorations, refrigerator magnets or decorations on packages. You can create hanging spiders by adding a small string on the spider's back. Make a whole spider family to keep you company.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pom-poms
  • 1 or 2 chenille stems (pipe cleaners)
  • Tacky glue
  • Plastic googly eyes
  • Magnets
  • String or thread
  1. Step 1

Make four equal pieces from a chenille stem by cutting it in half and then in half again.

  2. Step 2

Bend each piece in the middle at a 45-degree angle, creating two legs. Repeat this with the three other pieces of chenille stems.

  3. Step 3

Spread the fibers of the pom-pom apart in one area, and put on a large dab of tacky glue. The glue dab should be approximately half of the size of a dime.

  4. Step 4

Attach the spider legs to the glue by placing the bent part of the chenille stem into the glue and pushing lightly. Open the stem slightly so one leg points to each side of the pom-pom. Repeat this with all three of the other stem pieces.

  5. Step 5

Put more glue onto the area and pinch the pom-pom fibers back in place with your fingers. Hold the fibers together until you feel the glue begin to stick. Gently place the spider on a work surface, with its legs up in the air until the glue dries.

  6. Step 6

Adjust the spider's legs and feet once the glue has dried.

  7. Step 7

Add plastic googly eyes onto the spider using tiny drops of tacky glue.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hang up your spider by gluing on black string or invisible thread.
  • Glue a small magnet onto the back of the spider if you want it to hang on the refrigerator.
  • If you want a spider with longer legs use to chenille stems and cut them in half.
