Step 1
Look at architectural glass as a beautiful and functional room divider. Architectural glass can be made from many different textures, including a bubble glass look, a brushed look and frosted or etched glass. If you simply want to divide the space and not worry about privacy, choose a "near clear" or light obscurity. If privacy is desired, consider a moderate to heavy obscurity glass, which allows privacy yet allows light to enter.

Step 2
Buy an assembled, "out of the box" stained glass room divider. Stained glass adds privacy, beauty and depth of color to a room divider. Stained glass room dividers come in many colors and styles to complement your decor. They are composed of 3 or 4 panel sections for stability. Most have hidden hinges so the panels look seamless.

Step 3
Choose a Japanese Shoji style glass room partition. Many of these room dividers come in a frosted glass or plexiglass. They are sophisticated, yet simply designed, and the glass divider allows light to enter under the frame.

Step 4
Build a glass block wall for a permanent room partition. Glass block allows light in while providing privacy. Glass block partition walls are built much like a block wall, with mortar and grout. Many experienced homeowners can build the glass block wall themselves, or hire an expert to help. Just make sure the glass block is your long-term choice for a room divider, because it's difficult to remove.
