Things You'll Need:
- a regulation beach handball
-
Step 1
Select four players for each beach handball team; three players and a goalie. You can mix men and women on the teams and all players must play barefoot. Only the goalie can be in the goal, but he can also play as a regular player.
-
Step 2
Feel free to play the handball with any part of your body except your feet. You're allowed to carry the ball for 3 seconds and take 3 steps while you have possession of the handball. Use an open hand to bat the ball away from the other team and use your body to block any opposing player.
-
Step 3
Try to throw the ball down the field to your teammates until an attempt can be made at throwing the ball into the opponent's goal. After a goal, the goalie grabs the ball from the net and play continues from that point (there is no re-centering at the half-way line as there is in soccer.
-
Step 4
Only the goalie is allowed within ten feet of the goal, though if a player catches the ball outside that radius, he is allowed three steps into the goalie's zone to strike at the goal.
-
Step 5
Additional points are scored for created strikes, and for catching and striking in mid-air, before touching the ground.
-
Step 6
Play two 10-minute halves in a beach handball game with a 5 minute break at halftime. Whichever team scores the most goals in a half is awarded one point. If each team wins a half, a player from each team goes one-on-one against the opposite team's goalie to decide the winner.
