You've made the reservations for your dream golf vacation. You're ready to go: all you need to do is pack. Careful packing will ensure that you have everything you need to make your vacation a success.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Golf Vacations in the United States

  1. Step 1

Start planning your trip right by researching the golf course where you will be playing. Check ahead of time for dress codes. For example, if you're golfing the Currituck Club in North Carolina's Outer Banks, proper golf attire is required. You must wear a shirt with a collar at all times, and metal spikes are not allowed on this course.

  2. Step 2

Plan for the weather. The Weather Channel can give you a pretty good idea of what to expect for the week ahead, but it's best to expect a variety of weather conditions, so pack a rainsuit and umbrella. By dressing in layers on your golf vacation, you can avoid packing bulky items like heavy sweaters or coats. Packing a variety of clothing will help you be comfortable the whole trip

  3. Step 3

Include all the extras in your suitcase that you won't want to purchase in the pro shop, such as golf balls, extra gloves, tees and towels. Stock up on essentials like a first aid kit, pain relievers, sunscreen and bug repellent. You'll find these items are less costly at home than at a resort area.

  4. Golf Vacations in Europe

  5. Step 1

Contact the airline to find out how many checked bags are allowed, and whether a golf bag counts as one. Find out what kind of golf bags are permitted aboard the plane, such as soft or hard case bags.

  6. Step 2

Bring along extra pencils and tees, as these may not be provided on European courses. Golf balls are more expensive in Europe, so carry extras.

  7. Step 3

Make sure you have comfortable golf shoes and are prepared to walk several miles around the course. Golf carts are not the norm in Europe.

  8. Step 4

Check your small appliances such as an electric razor to see if it can use British voltage (240 volts) or Ireland voltage (220 volts.) Bring along an adaptor just in case.

  9. Step 5

Pack a coat and tie if you are a male and plan for "smart dress" if you are a female to access all areas of most golf clubs. You wouldn't want to travel all that way only to find out areas are off-limits because you aren't properly dressed.

  10. Step 6

Carry a valid passport and a driver's license, as well as some cash to tip the caddy if you have one. Otherwise a credit card is probably your safest bet while traveling. Make sure you photocopy all travel documents, keeping a set with you and one at home.
