A window washer is a manual labor job that many people find appealing. It is typically an easy job to perform and allows you to spend some of your workday outdoors. Window washers typically are responsible for cleaning the interior and exterior windows of large commercial and residential buildings.

  1. Step 1

    Start as a window washer's assistant. If you have no experience as a window washer, an assistant position is an easy way to get you the experience that you need to have a career in the business.

  2. Step 2

    Expect to perform routine duties while you learn the trade. An assistant is going to help wash windows and gather supplies for the senior window washers.

  3. Step 3

    Become familiar with the equipment used to wash windows. There is more to window washing then just using window wash and a squeegee. You need to know how to use the different lifts, chairs and ladders.

  4. Step 4

    Learn about cleaning chemicals. A window washer should know about the different chemicals used to clean windows and safety precautions to take when handling these chemicals.

  5. Step 5

    Prepare to carry heavy equipment. If you want to become a window washer, you must be able to carry the heavy ladders and chairs used to wash the exterior of the windows.
