    Instructions

      • 1

Determine what kind of rite or ritual you will be performing. It could be a ritual for love, divination or simply a thank you to the spirits of nature. Make a list of all of the things you will need for your ritual.

      • 2

Do a little research to determine which spirits would be best for your rite and decide the name and function of the spirit you will be invoking.

      • 3

Write down specifically what you will be asking of the spirit. Figure out the best time of day to perform your ritual when the energies of the universe will be the strongest. Consider invoking the spirits at sunset, sunrise, the harvest moon or another significant cosmic happening for an enhanced experience.

      • 4

Cleanse yourself before beginning your ritual. Bathe to rid yourself of any negative energies and dirt. Dress appropriately in clothing of pure fabric or perform your ritual naked.

      • 5

Plan what you will say to invoke the spirits. It should have personal significance. Reverently state what you want the spirits to do. Speak the words with clarity and strength while concentrating on drawing up the energy of the earth, the spirit world and your body.

      • 6

Repeat the words if necessary, visualizing the result of your ritual or rite coming into fruition. Meditate for a while after you complete the ritual and be sure to thank the spirits for their help and participation.

    Tips & Warnings

    • The most typical spirits invoked are nature spirits: earth, air, fire and water.

    • Use a totem to help you invoke the spirit of a specific animal. Native American and tribal traditions use totems to bring power to any ritual work.
