How to Find a Four-Leaf Clover

A four-leaf clover is an uncommon defect in the usually 3-leafed clover plant. It's estimated that only one out of 10,000 clovers have four leaves. Because they are rare, some believe that four-leaf clovers are lucky. Legend claims that the first clover represents hope, the second faith, the third love and the fourth luck.

Instructions

1. Locate a large clover patch. Clover likes to grow amongst grass, so take a look around any lawn to find some clover.

2. Stand over the patch and move the leaves with your feet. Getting down on your hands and knees will go too slowly to find many four-leaf clovers.

3. Look for patterns in the leaves. Finding four-leaf clovers is about pattern recognition. Instead of looking for four leaves, look for anything different in the sea of green leaves. The fourth leaf will stick out.

4. Try to find other, more rare clovers. Clovers can have more than four leaves and the more leaves, the rarer the clover. It's also said the more leaves, the luckier the clover. The record is an 18-leaf clover.
