When traveling to Europe, consider staying in a monastery. Monasteries offer low prices, safety and serenity. However, they do not offer amenities such as swimming pools, free toiletries or bellhops. Many rooms don't even have televisions. You will feel secure while staying in an unfamiliar country though, and these places offer hot meals and warm smiles.
