Lose weight using hypnosis as a tool in combination with diet and exercise. Hypnosis by itself doesn't work, but it can be effective in combination with understanding weight issues and taking other steps. People have used hypnosis to lose weight for a number of years.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand that hypnosis to lose weight assists with motivation and doesn't replace changes in diet and exercise.

  2. Step 2

Determine your level of commitment to lose weight. Hypnosis helps reinforce determination and the consultation can help develop determination. However, it's a good idea to have at least some level of commitment first.

  3. Step 3

Research a hypnosis practitioner. You want someone who's a registered professional through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

  4. Step 4

Ask your practitioner to explain a program to lose weight using hypnosis as a motivator. Many practitioners first work with you to understand weight issues such as eating for comfort to overcome stress or to stave off boredom.

  5. Step 5

Prepare yourself for more than one session. It may take more than one to get the determination and motivation necessary.

  6. Step 6

Consider self-hypnosis. There are a number of programs on websites to assist with self-hypnosis, though you may want to have a professional session first.

Tips & Warnings
  • Write down eating habits for a few days before consulting the hypnosis practitioner. Hypnosis helps you break habits, so it's a good idea to know what some of them are.
  • There are self-hypnosis tapes and CDs that assist with weight loss. Choose items from reputable practitioners.

on 7/28/2008 Hypnosis works better with positive attitude. so create an environment at your work place and home, that makes u happy and peaceful, with right amount of light and fresh air. Avoid dark dingy places and crowded areas. Develop confidence and happiness in yourself. this enhances and boosts the meditation process, giving you more satisfactory results. happy meditating!
