You have several choices when you decide to change your hair color. You can add highlights, change the overall color or put streaks throughout your hair. If you decide to streak your hair, consider using a streaking cap. This is a plastic cap with holes all over it that enables you to easily place the color around your hair in strands of the same width.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Examine your streaking cap and ensure all the hole markings are perforated. Insert a crochet hook through any that are closed. You can find streaking caps that come with the crochet hook included at the Hair and Beauty Bargain Bazaar website. Brush through your hair thoroughly to remove any knots or tangles.

  2. Step 2

Place your streaking cap over your brushed hair and use the crochet hook to pull strands of hair through the holes in the cap. Be sure to pull through only the amount of hair that you want to color as this is how you separate the hair to be colored from the hair to be left alone.

  3. Step 3

Color your hair according to the instructions on the colorant. Wash out the streaking cap after your coloring is complete. Dry the cap inside out and coat the inside with a dusting of powder to make it easy to use the next time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Streaking caps are one-size-fits-all so yours may not fit snugly.
