How to Take a Cruise on the Spirit of Jefferson Riverboat

Louisville, Kentucky is a city full of things to do. After sightseeing or going to the Kentucky Derby, try something different. Get off the roads and onto the Ohio River with a Cruise on the Spirit of Jefferson Riverboat with public cruises all year from noon to 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays. The following steps will have soon have you cruising on the river.

      Decide on which type of cruise to take. Prices and times vary. Children under 3 are always free. An excursion ticket costs $15 for adults, $14 for seniors over 60 years old and $6 for children 12 and under. Luncheon tickets are $25 for adults, $24 for seniors and $15 for children under 12. Dinner cruises cost $35 for adults, $34 for senior and $20 for children under 12. The dance cruise is $17 per person regardless of age and the dance cruise plus a dinner ticket costs the same price as dinner ticket rates.

      Make reservations for lunch or dinner cruises as they are required. Call if planning a special occasion like an anniversary or birthday. Reservations can be made by phoning 502-574-2992 or toll-free at 1-866-832-0011. The sales team can be reached at 502-574-2992 to help with special occasion information. The Spirit of Jefferson Riverboat does accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards.

      Plan a special New Year's Eve with the Spirit of Jefferson's annual New Year's Eve Gala. This cruise is $45.95 per person, regardless of age and includes a dinner buffet. Dance in the New Year and make a midnight champagne toast on this all-inclusive trip.

      Get married on the water. The Spirit of Jefferson will be happy to host a wedding reception or ceremony. The riverboat has air-conditioning and heat, a dance floor with a bandstand, a full bar as well as an on-board sound system. Other services are available as well, including DJ service, chocolate fountains and even a white horse drawn carriage.

      Watch the Spirit of Jefferson in the annual Great Steamboat Race, which is held the Wednesday before the Kentucky Derby in early May. The chase starts 20 minutes before the Great Steamboat Race and is a full speed race between 2 riverboats. Join the crowds and watch from the shore.
