Using a weight vest increases the calories your body burns. You can walk, run or labor at the gym while wearing a weight vest. Knowing how to buy a weight vest for resistance training is key to taking advantage of its benefits.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Comparison shop and research these vests online. Read about the different weight vests. Companies like MiR, Xvest and Reebok carries make these resistance training vests.

  2. Step 2

Walk into a sporting goods store like Sports Authority or Copeland Sports and take a look at what is on the shelf. Get a chance to touch the vest and try them on for size and comfort.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you take a look at the different weight or adjustable weight vest each brand offers. Adjustable weight vests are the best because as you become stronger you can easily add weight instead of buying a new vest.

  4. Step 4

Check the refund policy as well as warranty on the weight vest you want to buy. You don't want any questions about getting your money back if something might go wrong with the vest or if it makes working out simply too cumbersome.

  5. Step 5

Decide the weight vest you want and buy it either online or at your local sporting store.

Tips & Warnings
  • Weight vests can weight anything from 20 to 120 pounds.
  • The prices for a weight vest vary from $100 to $350, depending on the amount of weight.

on 9/6/2008 I like the Hyper Vest from Hyperwear. You can even run in it and it is comfortable. I wear it under my shirt at the office and know one knows. I burn extra calories that way.
