How to Buy Electric Scooters

With the craze on for alternative fuel, electric scooters are all the rage. But with so many electric scooters to chose from it's tough to determine the one that is right for your mobility needs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine your mobility needs before you buy. If you are someone who needs an electric scooter to get around the mall, you'll need something vastly different than if you're getting around town.

  2. Step 2

Set a budget. Depending on the model of scooter you buy you'll be spending anywhere from 100 dollars for a Razor E100 kids electric scooter to over 5,000 dollars for a two-seater EVRider personal mobility model. Be sure to include shipping charges in your price estimate.

  3. Step 3

Check out the consumer ratings. Try looking at sites like nextag.com and epinions.com. Consumers rate products and write reviews so everyone else can benefit from their experience with all types of consumer products, so be sure to see what they have to say about electric scooters before you buy anything.

  4. Step 4

Shop around before you buy the electric scooter you need to get around. The companies selling the products also have a rating system on nextag.com so you can see which is the most reliable in getting your product to you and who has the best customer service department.

  5. Step 5

See if your health insurance will kick in any part of the purchase price. If you're buying an electric scooter for personal mobility, your insurance may pay for part of or even all of your electric scooter cost. Contact your health insurance claims department and ask if you qualify for an electric scooter.
