Ice hockey is a fast paced game played on the ice. In ice hockey offensive players must choose the best options to make scoring plays. A 3 on 1 offense in hockey is one of the best possible offensive arrangements as you have three people running the puck while defended by only one opponent. A 3 on 1 offense must be executed with speed and agility.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Attack the defense in a fast, sweeping motion. Pass the puck one time before the top of the slot. Do your best to move around the defender and pass the puck from player to player so all three players are between the defender and the goal. Use caution as the puck carrier or pass receiver may be checked from behind by the defender.

  2. Step 2

Skate around the defender using crosses and picks. Place the third man to the post. This confuses the defender and may catch him off guard.

  3. Step 3

Present the puck carrier as a threat. The defense must concentrate on the puck carrier so the pass receivers are able to position themselves to make the shot.

  4. Step 4

Communicate what positions the pass receivers need to hold and how everyone is supposed to pass the puck between each other.

  5. Step 5

Pass the puck back and forth between carrier and receiver until an opportunity presents itself to score a goal.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that in all offensive situations once the offensive players enter into the other team's end zone the goal keeper also becomes a defender.
