Step 1
Challenge the defender by pressing him backward. Use forehand passes when possible. This forces the goal keeper to expect either a shot or a pass. This also creates good angles for the two players to take a shot.

Stay close to your partner to keep the defender from coming between you. Remember the poem "One high, one low, one fast, one slow." This poem reminds players to even out the responsibilities when using a 2 on 1 offense.

Step 3
Become a threat to the defender if you are a puck carrier. This keeps the defender from over-playing the pass.

Step 4
Pass the puck by the top of the slot. This makes a second play easier. Attack the goal as quickly as possible. This eliminates the threat of back checkers. Pass the puck to your partner when necessary.
