Tailgating is not only for football games. The NHL Playoffs are a great excuse for a tailgating party. Pack up a cooler of drinks, a container of something warm, your barbecue grill, and plenty of blankets. Arrive early and make the most of your night out with an impromptu tailgating party.

  • Grill
  • Bungee cords
  • Lawn chairs
  • Blankets
  • Jackets or sweatshirts
  • Rain jacket or other waterproof outerwear
  • Cell phone
  • Cooler for drinks
  • Cooler for raw meat
  • Cold salad
  • Baked goods
  • Insulated beverage container
  • Bottled water
  • Napkins or wet wipes

NHL Playoff Tailgating Party Set Up

Step1
Arrive early at the sporting event location, so you have plenty of time to eat and socialize.
Step2
Secure your grill with bungee cords, preferably in the back of a truck.
Step3
Bring lawn chairs for relaxing and blankets to wrap up in if it gets chilly.
Step4
Make sure everyone has a jacket or sweatshirt and rain gear.

Bring a cell phone so you can call friends and find them in the crowd.

Food for a NHL Playoff Tailgating Party

Keep raw chicken and beef cold with ice packs in their own separate cooler to avoid cross contamination.

Pack a cooler with crushed ice and plenty of canned or bottled beverages.
