Step 1
Lift your hockey stick so that the blade, or curved part of the hockey stick, is off the ice. You can only get called for a stabbing (or spearing) penalty if your stick is raised in this way.

Step 2
Push your raised blade into another player's body. If a referee sees you do this, you will get a stabbing penalty.

Step 3
Take at least 4 minutes in the penalty box. A stabbing penalty is considered a major penalty in American ice hockey. It is considered so dangerous that a referee may choose to throw you out of the game.
