Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Check the league schedule. The NHL announces the date and host venue for the All-Star game well in advance. See Resources below for the latest information.
Step2
Sign up to purchase tickets. You can do this by joining the waiting list on the host team's website. If you hold season tickets for the team, you'll get top priority for All-Star game ticket packages.
Step3
Volunteer for the event. Since All-Star tickets tend to go to the well heeled and well connected, many average fans won't have the chance to buy tickets. The host team usually sends out a call for volunteers to help with All-Star weekend, and by attending a meeting or two, you'll learn how to help with special All-Star activities like Hockey Ambassador or City Ambassador. You might even get freebies, like jerseys or team souvenirs.
Step4
Participate in All-Star Weekend functions. By attending parties, the Superskills Competition or charity events throughout the weekend, you'll learn a lot about the NHL and mingle with lots of fans and hockey big-wigs. You might even be able to score some tickets of your own from all that networking.
Step5
Look at your address book. A relative or acquaintance may be able to pull a few strings for you and help you get some of the coveted tickets.
Step6
Verify credentials. If you choose to buy tickets through a broker, be careful. Many services claim to have tickets for the All-Star Game, but you many wind up empty-handed if you put your faith in one of these companies without checking their credentials first.
