Most people struggle all their lives to attain recognition and tribute in their chosen profession. It is no different in the game of hockey. The highest level of acclaim in the sport of hockey is the Hockey Hall of Fame. While induction comes after a long and distinguished career, there are steps to induction besides simply being a great hockey player.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Realize that there are 3 categories for the selectees. These categories are player, builder and referee/lineman. A player must have played for 3 years minimum prior to induction. A builder may be active or inactive. In addition, a referee/linesman must be retired for 3 years for induction consideration.
Step2
Understand the attributes for each category of possible inductee. A player, builder and referee/linesmen must exhibit playing ability, sportsmanship and character, the ability to lead a team and the contribution to hockey in general.
Step3
Assemble all relevant information and data pertaining to the nominated person. Gather as many press clipping, videos, articles and other media supporting the nomination as possible.
Step4
Submit a nomination for candidates that are eligible for honors committee for reviews (see Resources below). Note that this process is outside the traditional nomination procedure in which members of the hall of fame committee make the nominations.
Step5
Recognize that other than the individual submission procedure, election to the Hockey Hall of Fame is confidential.
