Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places on earth with its abundance of lake activities, local casinos and gorgeous vacation rental homes. With snow skiing, water activities, fine dining and more, there is no shortage of amazing things to do in this beautiful destination. Use these steps to learn how to rent a Lake Tahoe Vacation Home.

From Quick Guide: Your Home Away from Home
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide on the area of Lake Tahoe you would like to stay. The lake area is generally broken up into 3 major areas: South Lake Tahoe, North Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City. The differences are vast and the prices can differ greatly depending on the size of house you are looking for in each area. Research the area a little to find the location right for you.

  2. Step 2

Plan ahead. Depending on the time of year you are planning to vacation to Lake Tahoe, the vacation rental homes will be rented quickly. Plan as far ahead as you can to avoid missing out on a great piece of property. Also, consider putting down a slightly larger deposit than asked for to ensure the property stays yours.

  3. Step 3

Find a vacation home realtor or vacation rental homes site to find your house. You can contact a realtor in Lake Tahoe to find out about vacation home availability and have them do much of the work for you or you can use an online or private site to rent direct from owners. Lake Rentals is one such site that offers many choices in Lake Tahoe and elsewhere around the country.

  4. Step 4

Follow application instructions closely. It's important to not only get your rental earlier, but to fill out and respond to all application guidelines to ensure that you are not passed over because of a simple error.
