A summer vacation home can give you and your family the opportunity to vacation all summer long. You can either plan to leave your house and stay at your second home for the summer or use it only on weekends. In either case, you are surely not going to regret renting a summer vacation home.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Pick an area where you wish to look for a summer vacation home. The first step in renting a vacation home is deciding on the location of the home. Summer areas that are popular include beach towns and lake districts.
Step2
Use the Internet to search for summer rental properties in the area. This is especially helpful if the vacation destination is a distance away from your home. Try the sites Rentals 365 and Timeshares Only.
Step3
Call for a quote for the entire summer. Most listings are going to give you the weekly rate for the summer vacation home. If you want the rental for a longer period of time, the landlord may offer a better deal.
Step4
Visit the rental in person if possible. Although you can probably view photos of the property online, it is better if you can inspect it in person.
Step5
Pay any monies and sign a contract. After you have chosen the rental home, you probably need to give a deposit. Request that a contract be drawn up for the property as well.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before you choose a summer rental, you should check its distance from the area's attractions. Ideally, you want to be a short drive or walk away from the action.
  • You should book your summer rental early. Popular areas tend to be rented out months in advance.
