How to Choose Maternity Clothes for Spring

Spring maternity clothes can be some of the most trendiest wardrobe items available. Spring is still cool enough for long sleeves, but it's warm enough for light layers. With this in mind, shopping for spring maternity clothes should have you filling your closet with cute tops, stylish jeans and cropped sweaters.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick maternity tops with three-quarter length sleeves. These tops provide warmth for cool spring days and look stylish with jeans.

  2. Step 2

Match cropped sweaters and throws with sleeveless maternity tops. You can then wear the tank tops underneath the sweaters in spring and wear them alone as part of your summer wardrobe.

  3. Step 3

Choose jeans and capris with rollover waist bands. These sorts of pants grow with your belly, and the panel provides warmth in cooler weather.

  4. Step 4

Wear spring dresses with cropped sweaters or jackets. Short, empire waist dresses look good with calf-high boots or ballet flats.

  5. Step 5

Prepare for spring showers by purchasing one piece of maternity outerwear. This can be a rain jacket, trench or overcoat. A belted style adds definition to your waist by cinching the area below your bust.

Tips & Warnings
  • Buy clothes that can carry you over into summertime. Spring usually means flowing materials, which also keep you cool in the summer.
  • Pick outerwear in a neutral color so you can wear it in winter, too. White, beige or black are classic colors that mesh well with winter wardrobe colors.
  • Scope out maternity bathing suit styles, but don't buy one yet. Your belly grows dramatically in 3 months, and what looks good now may not when you're bigger.
