Displaying the POW MIA flag is a wonderful way to remember and honor the soldiers who didn't come home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know when it is appropriate to fly the POW MIA flag. The third Friday in September is designated as the day to honor POW and MIA soldiers. It is appropriate to fly the flag on this day as well as on Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veteran's Day.

  2. Step 2

Display the POW MIA flag properly. When flying the POW MIA flag on a single flagpole, it should be no larger than the United States flag and it should also fly directly beneath the United States flag.

  3. Step 3

Fly the POW MIA flag on a separate pole. The POW MIA flag should be flown to the left of the United States flag. The United States flag should always be flown to the right of any flag.

  4. Step 4

Fly the POW MIA flag at any time if you are a family member of a soldier who is POW or MIA. Many family members from the Vietnam or Korean Wars continue to fly the POW MIA flags in honor of their family members and are determined to do so until their family members are returned.
