Ayrshire cows, also known as Dunlop or Cunninghame cows, are a breed of dairy cattle originating from Ayrshire, Scotland. Dunlops from the Cunninghame were bred with cattle from Holland to produce this line. Ayrshire cows have been exported throughout the world and are frequently crossed with Holstein cattle to produce healthier animals. The following steps will show how to identify Ayrshire cows.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Observe the color of Ayrshire cows. They generally have red markings, which may also range from orange to dark brown. The legs may or may not be colored.

Study the udder of an Ayrshire cow. They have long, wide udders with a large capacity and a silky texture. It is suspended from the body with a strong central ligament and an attachment at the front that blends into the body. The teats are about 6.5 cm long.
