Use Waiting Time Productively

People use up a lot of their time waiting. Waiting at a doctor's office, a bus stop or at an airport is commonplace. Many people might view waiting time as time lost, but waiting time doesn't have to be wasted time. You can actually use this idle time to get some things done. There are several ways you can use waiting time more productively.

Instructions

    • 1

Read something you have been meaning to read. Instead of leafing through a magazine in a waiting room, bring along a book, magazine or pamphlet that interests you.

    • 2

Bring your checkbook and pay your bills. Or, simply balance your checkbook. Getting finances in order is a great way to use waiting time productively.

    • 3

Write a letter to a friend or relative. Fill out a birthday or anniversary card or write a thank you note for a gift you might have gotten for a birthday or Christmas.

    • 4

Take a walk. If you're waiting to pick up a friend at the airport or the bus station, take advantage of the waiting time to get some exercise in by taking a walk.

    • 5

Do crafts. If knitting or crocheting is your thing, bring it along when you know you have a free period of waiting time. Doing something you enjoy can make the time go by more quickly.

    • 6

Make a list of things to do. Reflect on things you might have been putting off. Jot them down. You now have a list you can work off of and put your time later to good use.
