How to Adopt a Manatee

Go green by adopting and sponsoring an endangered animal. An adoption makes an excellent birthday gift or Christmas gift, or it can be the perfect way to have a pet that requires no responsibility at all. Make a difference by adopting a Manatee through the Save the Manatee Club. The funding received through donations goes toward research, education and public awareness and protection of manatees.

Instructions

1. Make an individual donation of $25. You will receive an adoption certificate, a photo and biography of the adopted manatee, a membership handbook and a subscription to the newsletter. You will also receive updates throughout the year on your personal manatee.

2. Adopt a manatee for a friend for $35 and receive a free gift. The gift is a calendar featuring photographs of manatees in their natural habitat. The $35 donation will also get the adoption certificate, membership handbook, and newsletter subscription.

3. Become a manatee sponsor for $50, a guardian for $100 or a steward for $500. All of these levels of membership get the same benefits as the lower levels of membership. The much-needed funding goes directly toward the maintenance of quality of life for these animals.

4. Sign up if you are a teacher, and get the discounted rate of $20 annually. This gets the classroom the adoption certificate and photo biography, an educator's guide, a poster, and activity book and the newsletters.

5. Adopt a manatee online. This can be done with credit card by visiting the Save the Manatee website listed below. You can then choose your own manatee to adopt.

6. Fill out the application and mail it in to pay by check or money order. This can be found online also. Then choose your manatee to adopt.

7. Order an adoption by telephone by calling the toll free number. It is [phone]. Telephone orders must be made by credit card.
