It is important to organize all of your sales for your craft business. You will need these records for tax season, and to see how successful or profitable that your business is doing. This allows you to see which months your sales do the best, and perhaps where you need to pick up the pace a bit too. By using a few folders, a notebook, and your computer software, it is very easy to keep track of all of your sales in your craft business.

Things You'll Need

  • 12 folders with pockets. (1 for each month)
  • a notebook
  • Spreadsheet, microsoft excel, or Microsoft Works

      Purchase some folders and a notebook to keep all of your sales in.

      Record all of your sales in your notebook. Keep your notebook for sale records only and don't record anything else in it. Keep all of your sales organized by months. Record your January sales in the January section, your February sales in the February section, etc.

      Print all of your recent sales from your craft business if you are keeping track of payments through paypal or any other online source where you receive your paymets.

      Place all of your printouts inside the folder pockets and organize them by month. Inside the other pocket, place all of your receipts that were used for purchases or any other aspect of your business.

      Record your data into a spreadsheet using excel or Microsoft Works. Divide each section or sheet by months, so you can keep track of monthly sales.

      Add up all of your total sales at the end of the year. Then add up all of your total purchases for supplies for your business. Include it in your spreadsheet information.

      Print out your spreadsheet and place it in your folder for your tax preparations and for your business archives. Start a new folder and notebook for the next year.
