Flowers may seem like a standard gift to give your sweetheart for Valentine's Day, but making a Valentine's Day flower basket gives a surprise twist to your loved ones. Follow these easy guidelines and create a simple but special Valentine's Day memento.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh roses
  • Basket
  • Newspaper
  • Floral block
  • Hot glue
  • Tissue paper
  • Silk flowers
  • Stuffed animal
  • Ribbon
  • Box of chocolate
  • Baby's breath
  1. Step 1

Purchase fresh flowers no more than a couple of days before Valentine's Day so they look fresh on the big day. Use white or pink roses with the thorns removed and the stems shortened to varying lengths.

  2. Step 2

Assemble the Valentine's Day basket by putting crumpled newspaper in the bottom of the basket. Then place a foam, floral block in the center of the basket. Secure the block with hot glue if necessary. Place red, white or pink tissue paper around and on the newspaper and floral block to cover them.

  3. Step 3

Arrange the fresh flowers in the basket by putting the stems into the floral block starting at the center and working towards the edges of the basket. Cut the stems off silk flowers and arrange them on the tissue paper and around the base of the fresh flowers.

  4. Step 4

Tie a stuffed animal to one of the basket handles with white ribbon. Add a box of chocolates on the opposite side of the stuffed animal to balance the basket and create symmetry. Finish with baby's breath as filler and to cover any holes in the presentation.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dollar stores often carry baskets as well as filler items such as candy and silk flowers.
