Art is an important part of children's homeschool curriculum as it contributes to a well-rounded education and higher performance in other subject areas. Don't forget about art when creating lesson plans for your homeschooled children. It's an important part of their educational and creative growth.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Invest in high-quality art books for children. Art books that detail different art subjects help homeschooled children get a well-rounded view of the subject. Read the art books with your children and answer questions as they arise. You may also be able to find adequate art samples to use as examples on posters, calendars, photos and museum websites.
Step2
Make craft-making a part of art time. Find simple craft instructions as part of another teacher's lesson plan online. Buy craft kits at art stores and require that children build the crafts during their school hours.
Step3
Incorporate as much art as you can into your homeschooled children's curriculum. Consider making art projects a supplementary part of each subject area that they are learning. You can squeeze in a bit of art history, folk art, photography, architecture, textiles and multicultural art information about any subject. Get creative.
Step4
Use technology to help your homeschooled children learn about art. Invest in computer software that makes learning about art fun. Many art games can be found in computer stores.
Step5
Take field trips to museums and other locations devoted to the fine arts. Peruse the exhibits with your children. Consider going on longer field trips to children's art museums.
Step6
Have your children keep an art journal. The children may use the journal to record their thoughts on lessons or their reactions to various pieces of art. Journals allow homeschool educators to track the progress of children's art appreciation and knowledge.
