Choose a location. After you have searched for a gas scooter, make sure to select an area you are willing to travel to pick up a scooter. You most likely will not want to crate and ship your scooter, unless you're absolutely sure it's exactly what is advertised and you can buy it sight unseen.

Narrow your listings based on condition, price and seller. It's very important to read the seller's feedback on eBay. This is the way to know if you're actually getting what you're paying for and dealing with a reputable seller. Expect to pay around 600 to 800 dollars for a small 50cc gas powered scooter, depending on type, condition and options.

Go for a test drive. If the seller is in your area and is willing, take the gas scooter for a test drive. You wouldn't buy a car without kicking the tires, so don't buy a scooter without thoroughly checking every detail. Great pictures are nice, but it's nothing like checking it out in person and starting the engine.

Purchase the scooter. You will be asked for all the shipping information and you must use a major credit card, PayPal or money order to actually buy the scooter. EBay recommends you make the transaction on their site to protect you, as the buyer, from potential fraud.

Arrange for shipping or pickup. Contact the seller and ask if you can pick up your gas scooter. If not, have the seller arrange for a trucking company to send the gas scooter to your home or business per the delivery details as outlined in the eBay auction.
