The fitness centers use hydraulic resistance machines in combination with cardiovascular training. Many women enjoy the social aspect of the centers as much as the 30-minute exercise routine that can help them lose weight and improve their health.

Instructions

    • 1

Join a Curves fitness center. Curves is one of the largest fitness franchises with over 10,000 fitness centers around the world. If you're not ready to sign up for a monthly membership, ask about a free trial that will let you try out the exercise routine to see if you like it or not.

    • 2

Have someone show you how to use the machines. Generally, you'll receive some instruction as a part of your orientation to the fitness center. However, you can always ask staff members if you need help with one of the machines or have any other questions. The staff should also discuss what your target heart rate is in the beginning as well.

    • 3

Warm up when you get to the fitness center. The staff members will show you how to warm up during your orientation.

    • 4

Alternate between the hydraulic resistance machines and the cardio areas. These intervals last about 30 seconds each. In most cases, you'll do the full circle of machines 3 times, moving in the same direction as the other participants at the same times that they do. The music will cue you when you need to move to the next station.

    • 5

Take your heart rate at the designated times. The music will let you know when you need to stop and check your heart rate to make sure that you're in the correct fat burning zone. The fitness center generally has a chart on the wall showing where your heart rate should be for your age, although factors like high blood pressure can influence what your individual rate should be.

    • 6

Stretch when you've finished the full rotation of machines 3 times. Staff members will show you around 10 different stretches for you to do at the end of your routine.

    • 7

Workout at least 3 times a week. To see benefits, you'll need to workout on a regular basis. Although you can work out more often, you should make a commitment to workout at least 3 times per week.
