Nothing gets the heart pumping like playing a few card games at the casino. But when you run low on cash and constantly have to run to the ATM it can be really frustrating; especially if you're a high roller. Enter Casino Credit. Also known as a "marker," it is a pre-approved amount of money that you can get right from the pit boss. You can settle with the house later.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Contact the casino at which you wish to gamble on your upcoming trip. Getting casino credit can take a few days as the casino checks your records to make sure that you can make good on your marker. Contact the casino and ask to speak with the credit office. They can email or fax you an application. If you live close enough, you can swing on by and pick one up.
Step2
Fill out the casino credit application so you can start gambling. This is just like a credit card application. However, where most credit card applications will not physically call your bank, these guys will. They want to make sure that you're not applying for a $10,000 marker with $1,000 to your name. It should be noted that this application gives them the right to pull your credit profile.
Step3
Ask the pit boss for your marker. Now that you are approved, simply go to the table game of your choice and politely explain that you have a credit line established with the casino. Hand over your player's card and identification and the pit boss will do the rest. He'll fill out the necessary paperwork and then ask you how much you would like. Once you tell him, the dealer will provide you that amount in chips.
Step4
Start gambling to your heart's content. Now that you have the chips, you have the power to play any game you want in the casino. Just be sure to gamble responsibly. Taking out a marker is not something you do to make a car payment or mortgage payment with the desperate spin of a wheel.
Step5
Settle up with your casino credit. After you are done gambling, it's time to pay the piper. If you are a winner, go to the casino cage and reap your profits. They will keep the original amount of the marker. If you are a loser, you must pay back the money in the specified time; otherwise, they will take it from your bank account. This time frame is usually a few days, but varies by casino. It should be noted if you sign the marker, but the money was not in the account (like you paid your mortgage the day before) this is fraud and legal action may be taken against you.

Tips & Warnings

  • Getting credit for slots is a little harder. Not only are they reluctant to give it because of the small nature of the average bet, but also they money that they give you gets dumped back into oblivion rather than staying within a section of tables.
  • For it to be worthwhile to obtain a marker, you must go gambling at a casino at least a half dozen times a year.
  • Gambling can become addicting. If you or someone you know has a problem, contact Gamblers Anonymous immediately.
