Entertainment centers can be large, taking up significant space in your home--even more when you no longer want them. Consider a few options when trying to dispose of an entertainment center.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Give it away. Ask a neighbor, friend or colleague if they know of anyone looking for furnishings. Maybe you know a college student who's apartment is lacking furniture, or a family in need of items for their house. Use your network of resources to locate someone who could use the item.

  2. Step 2

Try to sell the piece. Use newspaper ads, store bulletin boards or online sites. Advertise the piece of furniture, pricing it especially low if you aren't concerned with getting a certain amount of money for it.

  3. Step 3

Donate it. A number of organizations could benefit from a piece of furniture in decent shape. Consider sending it to a shelter or orphanage. Even schools with a theater or drama department may find use in it as a prop for a production.

  4. Step 4

Hire a company who picks up junk and other unwanted materials to remove it if its size is cumbersome. These companies' charges can vary, but it is often worth the convenience of having someone else get the entertainment center out of your way.

  5. Step 5

Hold a garage sale. Not only can you sell the piece this way, but there will also be no shipping expenses, and the buyer will take the piece away as well.
