How to Create Hyperlinks on a Message Board

A hyperlink is a direct link to a website or a webpage. Hyperlinks are one way to enhance a message on a message board. Add a hyperlink on a message board in a variety of ways or add a hyperlink to a message board in a matter of minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Type the hyperlink into the message surrounded by parentheses. When the message is submitted, the hyperlink appears underlined with parentheses around it. Make sure to always include the "http" or "https" before the link's web address.
Step2
Insert an email address by typing the web address into the message. For example, type: John@123.com. This makes the email address appear in the message underlined. When someone reading the message board clicks on the link, their default email browser opens the link.
Step3
Add a link without parentheses by using brackets. To do this, type: "[url]linkinformation[\url]. Your hyperlink then appears on the message board underlined. The entire hyperlink is needed for this to work properly.
Step4
Input a hyperlink behind text. To do this, type: "[url="link"]text[\url]". The text you type appears underlined and a hyperlink is placed behind the text. When a reader clicks on the text, they are taken to the link's website, webpage or email.

Tips & Warnings

  • Double check the web address you use for a hyperlink before you post your message on a message board. If even one character is off, the link doesn't work. After you post the message, try clicking on the hyperlink yourself to check to see if the link works properly. If not, edit your message and fix the link.
