Working from home can be a great option for busy people with many demands on their time. In order to schedule a work from home day, it's key to make preparations in advance. Take a few simple steps, and your work from home day can be just as productive--or even more productive--than eight hours spent at the office.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Familiarize yourself with your supervisor's schedule. If she wants you to be in the office to meet with a client or finalize a sale, you need to be there. Find out what days would be most convenient for your supervisor to accommodate your work from home day.
Step2
Schedule the work from home day several weeks in advance, if possible. This will give you plenty of time to get organized, and you won't be leaving any of your co-workers in a lurch.
Step3
Obtain the necessary tools to do your job from home. Make sure you have access to all of the supplies and technology that you need to do your job well. This may include a fax machine, a teleconferencing system or a database program--or it may just include a phone and e-mail access.
Step4
Let your boss and co-workers know that you will be available for the entire work day. They should feel free to call or e-mail you during working hours, just as they would do if you were actually in the office.
Step5
Tell the people who live with you that you are going to schedule a work from home day. Ask them to keep interruptions to a minimum, so that you can perform your job effectively from your home office.
